You don't know me or the little ground dove I was trying to help, but your info on Gentian Violet helped me to save his life. He smelled ferment-y from within a foot or so away, and not just when he opened his mouth. He got so weak he could not hold his head up or keep his eyes open. I searched the internet for hours and hours and finally came across your site. I had some old gentian violet in a 2% solution so I diluted it and tried it. I honestly did not expect him to live through the night, but the next morning he could hold his eyes open and moved around a bit and by that night he was bouncing around his cage! Thank you so much for actually providing usable information and not making me buy your book or something. It helped to save a beautiful little soul!

I immediately thought of you because I have a Water Nannie and thank you every time I use it. Its just the best thing ever and the little terrycloth baby support ring is fantastic.

We took a short trip a few weeks ago and I had two chicks who no longer needed the heat so I put them in the inner part of the Water Nannie and put that in the travel cover and took them everywhere....into eating places, malls, and no one knew they were in there!

Hi everyone! My name is Paula and I am now owned by a 9 week old Blue and Gold Macaw named Storm. I have had Storm since she was 7 weeks old. Like I said I had tons and tons of question, but an internet search which was prompted by my boss (Storm comes to work with me and my boss has fallen in love with her) because he was worried that she wasn't eating the same as before led me to Wanda Barras' web site. What a wonderful site. It was like you wrote the article about Storm. Everything in that article on hand feeding/weaning stages is exactly what she is doing (my boss still called his avian vet to which he replied that we found a very good and informative site).

I am writing from Venezuela, one of the South American Countries where Parrots and Macaws are found everywhere.

I'd like to thank you for saving my Scarlet Macaw!! Yes, after reading your article about "Detecting and Dealing with Crop Problems" I was able to heal my baby Macaw that was suffering from Crop Slow Down.

My macaw was brought to me from San Felipe, one of the places in Venezuela with the biggest populations of Scarlets; I live in Caracas by the way... I think my macaw was about 3 weeks old (after hatching) when they brought it to me, and sadly but true it was removed from its natural nest somewhere out in the sabana.

As soon as I received my macaw I started feeding it with Hand-Feeding Formula from Hagen, it was eating fine and growing quickly. After three weeks I was not able to find Hagen anymore and I changed it to Kaytee... Well.... It almost died: The crop stock, It didn't drain for almost half a day. I didn't want to take it to the doctor because veterinaries in Venezuela don't have a clue about birds, they early know about dogs and cats. I found my macaw with its head in the floor and almost no signs of life. I began looking for information on the internet and I found your article, the first I found and your advices were so precise. I fed it with Pedilyte only for 2 days, very little doses every two hours. Now it came back to life, the feeder are still growing and I'm feeding it with Kaytee with no problems at all.
